CONSTRUCTION CRAZE
Put on your hard hat and head on over to our construction site! Make your own motorized models of tools of the trade from a hand-held power drill and power saw to a tough, all-terrain bulldozer and giant dump truck. Would you be surprised to learn that one of these objects has a history stretching from the Stone Age to the Space Age? And who thought of making a saw blade in the shape of a circle? Where does the word "bulldozer" come from? How big is the biggest dump truck? Dump trucks, jackhammers, drills, power saws… build motorized models of these to create your own LEGO® construction site. Drawings with marbles will help your preschooler master the art of creating a circle, a deceptively simple yet complex shape. The acorn and apple tree drawing will strengthen your child’s compositional skills and use of colors. Basic facial and figure drawing will also be addressed as our students learn to draw a funny clown and scarecrow. These are just a few of the many great lessons our students will learn.

MINING AND CRAFTING ADVENTURE CAMP
Experience the exciting world of Minecraft® using LEGO® bricks this summer! This fun & exciting camp takes a whole lot of LEGO® Bricks, a back-ground in STEM, children’s natural creativity, and inspiration from the popular game to build on a week of learning fun - the Bricks 4 Kidz way! From Pigs, Mooshrooms and Chickens to Mine Carts, Zombies and Skeletons, we’ll explore and build different stories each day in our LEGO® Mining and Crafting world! Kids will start by crafting their shelters, mob characters, critters and tools using LEGO® bricks. Students will face new challenges each day, building models and crafting key elements from the popular Minecraft® game. Using our proprietary kits and model plans, campers will construct one-of-a-kind Minecraft® models using LEGO® bricks! Our specialized model plans incorporate beams, gears, axles, motors, battery packs and other technic LEGO® components. (All campers will go home with a custom mini-figure at the end of the week!)
JR. ROBOTICS & CODING CAMP

This new Bricks 4 Kidz Junior Robotics & Coding camp offers all the fun of building with LEGO® bricks, PLUS the challenge of computer programming! Coding is an important part of 21st century learning. This exciting camp uses the updated WeDo 2.0 software with iPads and features Bluetooth technology which allows the creations to be controlled wirelessly! This new software teaches programming in an intuitive way - letting students bring their creations to life while sharpening their computational thinking skills like logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and modeling simulations. It also features a colorful drag and drop interface that is easy for students to use and understand.
EXTREME NINJAS - MASTER BUILDERS CAMP
Enter a world of ninjas, adventure and LEGO® master-building! Campers will use LEGO® bricks in their adventure to master different building methods and techniques. Throughout the week we will build dojos, LEGO® ninja weapons and vehicles. Campers will use our proprietary kits and model plans to build one-of-a-kind LEGO® creations! Some of the daily activities will include LEGO® technic motorized builds, mosaics, a car ramp, a zipline, daily take home crafts and much more inspired by your favorite Ninjago and Ninja Turtle® stories!

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION - MAKING YOUR OWN STAR WARS MOVIE
Do you want to be the next George Lucas? We will create our own Star Wars movie using special digital movie making cameras and software. As directors and producers we will work in teams to create our own story and script, build various Star Wars Lego® scenes and film our own movie. We will use graphic editing techniques and stop motion animation, add background noise and music, and show our movie at a private screening on the last day of class. Students will also receive a copy of their movie after it is complete.
3D VIDEO GAME DESIGN
Learn to create 3D games and challenge your friends. We will be creating games for the PC version of Kodu, Microsoft’s award-winning game design platform. Students will learn the art of rapid game design and develop an understanding of underlying game mechanics. Students can choose from 20 different game characters including flying saucers, submarines, and a Pac-Man-like Kodu character then use an interactive terrain editor, a bridge and path builder, and other tools to create their 3D game world. Kodu is available as a free download for Windows. Bring a USB drive on the last day or games can be emailed to parents.
ROCK & ROLL ROBOTICS
Create robots that rock and robots that roll! Using the LEGO WeDo Robotics System your robots will include a monkey who plays a drum to a rock & roll beat, a lion that roars, a bird that flaps its wings to create a big wind, a sleeping giant who will awaken on your command and a boat that will rock on the rough seas. This course builds knowledge of simple machines, engineering, programming, and teamwork in an environment full of Rockin’ Fun! Students will work in teams of 2 - sign up with a friend!

JR. GYMNASTICS I
Four events will be covered in this introductory class. Age appropriate stunts for bar, vault, floor and rings will be introduced. Students can learn the basic movements for each event in a well-supervised and safe environment.
JR. GYMNASTICS II
This class is an advancement from Jr Gymnastics I with more technique. Prerequisite for this class is to perform a successful cartwheel, swing and support on the bars, and squat on the vault.

430723 - BICYCLE SCAVENGER HUNT
Tweens, we know you like to use your cell phones!! This hunt will take teams around town on their bikes taking photos of listed items. Participants form teams of 3 or 4. Registration packets will be available to download after online registration, can be picked up at the WS Rec Office or on our website at www.wsprings.com/recreation. 1st & 2nd place teams will win prizes. Teams will depart from the Rec Center at about 4:15 pm. Please arrive on time. Teams need 1 smart phone and all participants need a working bike. Great way to burn off calories and have some fun!!

Looking to help your child gain the poise and confidence of social etiquette? Children will learn the basic skills needed to help them navigate in various social situations with ease and certainty. My focus is on teaching manners as a demonstration of kindness, consideration and respect toward others. This class offers the "other voice" to convey the common courtesies that parents try to teach at home. Topics include: introductions, conversation, telephone and technology manners, writing thank-you notes, and table manners. Dress code (optional): young ladies - dress/skirt and blouse, and young men - khakis and collared shirt.

PRESCHOOL DRAWING CLASS - FARM THEME
Sweep away summer boredom with some artistic fun. Young Rembrandts provides an engaging, creative environment where your child will learn how to draw and strengthen his or her art skills. Participants will have fun on the farm as they create barnyard images. Cute pigs, a colorful tractor and adorable sheep are some of the drawings they will illustrate. A brightly-colored world of inspiration is at your little artist’s fingertips.
ELEMENTARY DRAWING - SPACE THEME
Space may be the final frontier, but a Young Rembrandts drawing class is the gateway to a universe of artistic development. Young Rembrandts provides a productive atmosphere where your child can discover and strengthen his or her drawing abilities. During the month of July, our students will create images inspired by the space program. An exciting shuttle blast off, a detailed astronaut and the moon landing are just some of the drawings our students will draw. Set course for education and adventure!

Hand sewing for beginners and those wanting to improve their skills. Learn about fabrics, patterns, measuring, cutting and how to follow directions. We will sew an outfit for an 18-inch doll to practice skills while creating something fun and useful. Scissors and a hot glue gun may be used. You may bring your doll to class the last day for a fashion show. All materials and tools are provided.
