    140666 - DOG OBEDIENCE

    Is your dog becoming a monster and driving you crazy? Are you tired of being kept up all night from constant barking? If your home furnishings and personal belongings are being chewed up, or you just want basic commands mastered, sign up for this class. For beginners only, dogs must be at least four months old. Handlers must be old enough to handle dog in a group setting. The first class will be a two-hour orientation from 7:00-9:00 pm, without your dog. You must attend this informative meeting.
    ADVANCED CLASS: You must have completed the beginner course with our instructor or been evaluated by the trainer.

    SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP
    Membership, which is open to the general public, provides participation in our community of activities and events geared specifically to the interests of the older adult. Membership also supports the need of seniors to socialize and make new friends. We are located at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, Western Springs, 2nd floor in the Neal Room (elevator access available).     GOLD level membership is $50/Residents, $60/Nonresidents and includes all activities including unlimited exercise and unlimited classes.

    SILVER level membership is $40/Residents, $50/Nonresidents and includes all activities except exercise and classes.

    BRONZE level membership is $20/Residents, $30/Nonresidents and includes library book borrowing, movie borrowing, movie watching, and regular bridge subs.

    Spouses are ˝ price for each level.

This may be a child’s first opportunity to discover their independence in a classroom setting. Finger-plays, singing, and game play during a short circle time helps promote socialization and coordination. A small snack (parent donation) will add a special treat to morning fun.     One childhood author and book topic will be studied each session. Using verbal skills, children ‘write’ their books by dictating as the teacher writes down their words. Typed pages are illustrated by the children using colorful markers. Instructors work one on one with the children assisting them in getting their verbal thoughts into novel form. Family and friends are invited to join us at our ‘Reading’ as we share our completed novels prior to taking them home. Children take turns bringing a nut-free snack & drink to share with classmates.

    YOGA FOR YOUNGSTERS
    During this class we will explore yoga by learning basic poses. Stories and games will be included in every class to enhance the experience. Children will learn calming techniques, increase their strength and flexibility in addition to a variety of yoga poses. Join this exciting class!!

    YOGA AND SUPER HERO WORKSHOP
    This exciting workshop is a combination of Yoga and Superhero-themed activities. Participants will enjoy one hour of superhero activities including wearing superhero party masks and temporary tattoos to dress up as a superhero, choosing their own superpowers and making superhero crafts. Afterwards, participants will enjoy one hour of Yoga instruction where they will enhance their flexibility and strength and learn a variety of yoga poses, or mudras while playing fun yoga games. Young children must be fully potty trained. Last day to cancel class is 2/18.

    GYMNASTICS 101 - AGE: 4-6 YEARS
    Four events will be covered in this introductory class. Age appropriate tricks for bar, vault, floor and rings will be introduced. Students can learn the basic movements for each event in a well-supervised and safe environment.

    GYMNASTICS 102- AGE: 5-7 YEARS
    This class is an advancement from Gymnastics 102 with more technique. Prerequisite for this class is to perform a successful cartwheel, swing and supports on the bars and squat on the vault.

    PEEWEE VOLLEYBALL
    This is an introductory class for children in 1st-3rd grade. The lesson plan introduces the pass, set and spike using a very light volleyball. This class will improve each child’s hand-eye coordination and left/right coordination through the use of fun drills and games. Lesson plan also incorporates short educational drills including spelling, math and science.

    JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL SKILLS & DRILLS
    Improve your volleyball skills with 60 minutes of drills in setting, passing, overhand serving and spiking. The lesson plan directs the use of self-mastery training and groups that help each student reach a new level. You will also develop a good understanding of each position on offense and defense. Instructors organize short games at the end of each class.

    Coaches will focus on teaching sprints, hurdles, jumps, distance running, and throws in a safe and fundamental way. The program consists of learning body balance techniques, and speed, quickness and agility drills which will help produce a quicker and more powerful performer.     225245 - LACROSSE-BOYS TRAVEL-WINTER/SPRING

    BOYS TRAVEL LACROSSE LEAGUE
    This program is designed for the more competitive lacrosse player in grades K-8. Commitment to the travel lacrosse program is a must.

    Registration begins December 1, 8:30am, online, fax or mail. Late fee of $50 beginning December 16.

    Uniform sizing, spirit wear, helmet stickers, volunteer signup, and meet the coaches and in person registration takes place on Monday, December 2, at 6:30-8:00 pm at Recreation Center, 1500 Walker St.

    REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Lacrosse stick, mouthpiece, lacrosse or hockey helmet with face guard; shoulder pads, elbow pads, lacrosse gloves, and cup.

    Fees include game scheduling, fields, coaches, tournaments, referees & supplies. All dates, fees & info are subject to change.

    Cancellation fee before January 12: $150. After January 12, no refunds for cancellations. No exceptions.

    Program dates: January 12-June 7, 2020
    --Indoor travel practices start Sunday, January 12 thru March 15 at Westmont Yard. Exact times tbd (between 12 - 4pm).
    --Icebreaker tournament on January 20 in Glenview, IL.
    --Practices start outdoors 1st week of April (depending on weather & field availability).

    There will be 6-8 Home/Away Games for K-8th grade in the suburban area (mid-April thru June 7).

    Rip the Duck Tournament in South Bend, Indiana, May 2-3.
    Tower Tournament at Lyons Township High School scheduled on May 30.
    IBLA Playoffs June 6-7.
