    Is your dog becoming a monster and driving you crazy? Are you tired of being kept up all night from constant barking? If your home furnishings and personal belongings are being chewed up, or you just want basic commands mastered, sign up for this class. For beginners only, dogs must be at least four months old. Handlers must be old enough to handle dog in a group setting. The first class will be a two-hour orientation from 7:00-9:00 pm, without your dog. You must attend this informative meeting.

    ADVANCED CLASS: You must have completed the beginner course with our instructor or evaluated by the trainer.

    SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP
    Membership, which is open to the general public, provides participation in our community of activities and events geared specifically to the interests of the older adult. Membership also supports the need of seniors to socialize and make new friends. For more information, consult our website at www.wsprings.com/recreation under Senior Services or stop by during business hours to explore. We are located at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, Western Springs, 2nd floor in the Neal Room (elevator access available). You may also register online-see below for different level options.

    GOLD level membership is $50/Residents, $60/Nonresidents and includes all activities including unlimited exercise and unlimited classes.

    SILVER level membership is $40/Residents, $50/Nonresidents and includes all activities except exercise and classes.

    BRONZE level membership is $20/Residents, $30/Nonresidents and includes library book borrowing, movie borrowing, movie watching, and regular bridge subs.

    Spouses are ½ price for each level.

    One childhood author and book topic will be studied each session. Using verbal skills, children "write" their books by dictating as the teacher writes down their words. Typed pages are illustrated by the children using colorful markers. Instructors work one on one with the children assisting them in getting their verbal thoughts into novel form. Family and friends are invited to join us at our "Reading" as we share our completed novels prior to taking them home. Children take turns bringing a nut-free snack & drink to share with classmates.

    Skyhawks Golf focuses on building the confidence of young athletes through training in proper technique and foundational skills. Golf is a challenging and lifelong sport, so young athletes need proper focus on the essentials of a good swing, putting, and body positioning. Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New at Golf) technology to its curriculum. SNAG utilizes a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers, including oversized plastic club heads and mini-tennis balls to help build confidence. Holes are constructed with preset tee boxes or launching pads and are finished off with Velcro targets for greens. This program is perfect for developing a love for the game!

    Do you love Superman or Batman? Or are you a Spiderman, Iron Man or Hulk fan? You can create your very own Superhero movie using special digital movie making cameras and software. As directors and producers we will work in teams to create our own story and script, build Lego® scenes and film our own movie. We will use graphic editing techniques and stop motion animation, add background noise and music, and show our movie at a private screening on the last day of class. If you like, bring characters and props from home to use in your movie! You will get a copy of your movie after class is complete.

    225245 - LACROSSE-BOYS TRAVEL

    BOYS TRAVEL LACROSSE LEAGUE
    This program is designed for the more competitive lacrosse player in grades 1-8. Commitment to the travel lacrosse program is a must.

    Registration begins December 7, 8:30am, online, fax or mail. Last day of registration without a late fee is January 6 at 11:59pm.

    Uniform sizing, spirit wear, helmet stickers, volunteer signup, and meet the coaches and in person registration takes place on Sunday, January 6, at 1:00-2:30pm at Recreation Center, 1500 Walker St.

    REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Lacrosse stick, mouthpiece, lacrosse or hockey helmet with face guard; shoulder pads, elbow pads, lacrosse gloves, and cup.

    Fees include game scheduling, fields, coaches, tournaments, referees & supplies. All dates, fees & info are subject to change.

    Cancellation fee before January 6: $100. After January 6, no refunds for cancellations. No exceptions.

    We will be using the same uniform this year. If you do not need a new uniform and you register by January 6, 11:59pm: Registration fee: $600; if you register starting January 7: Registration fee: $700

    Program dates: January 11-June 10, 2019
    --Indoor travel practices start Friday, January 11-January 25 at Lyons Township South Campus (times TBD). Practices will then occur at Westmont Yard, February 1-March 15, 6-8pm (no February 29).
    --Practices start outdoors 1st week of April (depending on weather & field availability).

    There will be 6-8 Home/Away Games for 1st-8th grade in the suburban area (mid-April thru mid-June).

    Rip the Duck Tournament in South Bend, Indiana, April 13-14. Tower Tournament at Lyons Township High School scheduled on June 1. IBLA Playoffs start early June.

    Elite Tournament Team
    We will be forming an Elite tournament team to play in one or more additional tournaments during the season or early Summer. Players will be chosen by their coaches and additional practices will be separate from regular team practices. More details will follow after the start of the Spring season practices.

    The focus for this group will be on tumbling skills, specifically for cheerleading: round-offs, walkovers, flip-flops, standing back tucks, and running tumbling. Students must have these basic tumbling skills before entering this class: bridges, cartwheels, and handstands. Students will work according to their own level.

    Has it been awhile since you’ve worked out with weights? How much workout time is devoted to flexibility, balance, range of motion and core strength? This class is targeted to participants at the beg/intermediate level. A great workout to build muscle, burn fat, and gain endurance for anyone working to improve their fitness.

    10-class punch card available for $80 Adult and $60 Senior (65+). Punch cards do not expire. Punch cards not available for purchase online, only at the Rec Office.
