    120233 - 5TH/6TH/7TH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

    Join in the 20th year of this popular program where everyone plays. Teams are formed around the neighborhood school (Dist. 101, 106 or St. John of the Cross) with a separate 5th grade league and another with combined 6th & 7th grades for both boys and girls. Games are played Saturdays beginning December 2 and ending in March. The exact schedule will depend upon the number of teams in each league. Practices are determined by the volunteer coach with the cooperation from the schools. Registration Deadline is November 7th

    VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED for 5th & 6/7th grade teams. If you can help, please indicate so when you register. A coaches meeting is set for Tuesday, November 7, 6:30 p.m. and training at a Coach Clinic on Thurs, November 9, 6:45-8:15 pm at the Recreation Center.     Initial Fee of $750 (plus uniform cost (if needed) and end-of-season expense adjustment*).

    PROGRAM CONSENT FORM
    By registering online, I acknowledge that I have received and read the parent letter and understand that my child will be participating in the Western Springs Blazers/Wildcats Traveling Basketball Program. I give permission for my child to participate as outlined in the letter. *I also acknowledge that additional fees may be owed for my child’s team at the completion of the season.


    MEDICAL INFORMATION/CONSENT
    Safety is a key concern in any athletic endeavor. Your child will be participating in many basketball practices and games during the next few months. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THERE IS INHERENT RISK OF INJURY PLAYING BASKETBALL. If you believe this activity could endanger your child, please do not sign up or drop him/her from this program. Also, please make sure your child has had a physical checkup from his/her doctor and is physically able to participate in this strenuous activity.

    THE VILLAGE OF WESTERN SPRINGS AND THE RECREATION DEPT. CARRY NO MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR ANY INJURIES SUSTAINED IN THIS ACTIVITY AND ASSUMES NO LIABILITIES FOR PERSONAL INJURIES OR FOR LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY WHILE ATTENDING AND PARTICIPATING IN ANY PRACTICE OR HOME/AWAY BASKETBALL GAMES. A PARTICIPANT’S FAMILY’S MEDICAL INSURANCE POLICY MUST COVER ANY AND ALL MEDICAL COSTS INCURRED IF INJURIES ARE SUSTAINED.

    Finally, due to the nature of a traveling team, the players will be playing games in other communities. If an EMERGENCY SITUATION arises involving your child, we will take quick action. The coach will make every effort to contact a child’s parents, but failing to reach you, he/she will exercise his/her best judgement including making a decision to contact 911 services for assistance. The MEDICAL INFORMATION and CONSENT you provide will be with the coach during the season. If there are any questions or concerns about these items, please contact Tracy Alden at 708-246-9070 x425.

    You must have been invited to join your team to register for Travel Basketball. Full payment is due at registration.

    Travel Basketball Welcome Night and Uniform Fittings will be at the Rec Center Gym on Wednesday, September 13, 5:30 pm. You will receive an email with more information.

    Try outs are listed below under separate code numbers. There is no fee to try out.

    SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP
    Membership, which is open to the general public, provides participation in our community of activities and events geared specifically to the interests of the older adult. Membership also supports the need of seniors to socialize and make new friends. For more information, consult our website at www.wsprings.com/recreation under Senior Services or stop by during business hours to explore. We are located at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, Western Springs, 2nd floor in the Neal Room (elevator access available). You may also register online-see below for different level options.

    GOLD level membership is $40/Residents, $50/Nonresidents and includes all activities including UNLIMITED exercise & classes. Taxi coupons available at this level. No discounts available at this level if using the Taxi coupon Program.

    SILVER level membership is $30/Residents, $40/Nonresidents and includes all activities EXCEPT exercise and classes. Taxi coupons available at this level. No discounts available at this level if using the Taxi coupon Program.

    BRONZE level membership is $10/Residents, $20/Nonresidents and includes Library, Movie rental, Movies ONLY. NO taxi coupons at this level.

    Spouses are ½ price for each level unless they are purchasing taxi coupons.

Topics include: introductions, conversation, telephone and technology manners, writing thank-you notes, and table manners. Dress code (optional): young ladies: dress/skirt and blouse, and young men: khakis and collared shirt.

    Join us for a full morning of fun! We will create an enjoyable craft and make a delicious recipe from our Wee Gourmets class. A new craft and recipe will be introduced each week of each session. You can take this class for three years and not repeat a craft or recipe. Children take turns bringing snack and drink to share with their classmates. Note: all recipes are nut free.     One childhood author and book topic will be studied each session. Using verbal skills, children "write" their books by dictating as the teacher writes down their words. Typed pages are illustrated by the children using colorful markers. Instructors work one on one with the children assisting them in getting their verbal thoughts into novel form. Family and friends are invited to join us at our "Reading" as we share our completed novels prior to taking them home. Children take turns bringing a nut free snack and drink to share with classmates.

Designed for pre-school & kindergarten age children, these 45 minute clinics will provide a comfortable and fun group environment as participants learn the fundamentals of basketball. Each session will be overseen and run by a certified Christopher Spartz trainer and focus on learning the game, skill development, and providing a structured, engaging environment to get the children excited about the game!

    Get in the gym, work on your skills and have some fun tuning up for your winter travel or house league teams. The camp will be run by Christopher Spartz Basketball trainers.

    BALLERZ
    The Ballerz workouts will be run by CSB elite trainers to ensure that the experience for your developing basketball player is positive and fun. In these formative years it is extremely imperative that your child receives the best teachers and learn the proper fundamentals in order to excel quicker. The sooner they see the gains, the more fun they have. Our points of emphasis will be: Fundamentals 101; how to have fun playing the game; how to create great habits; sportsmanship and rules of the game.
