    SENIOR CENTER MEMBERSHIP
    Membership, which is open to the general public, provides participation in our community of activities and events geared specifically to the interests of the older adult. Membership also supports the need of seniors to socialize and make new friends. For more information, consult our website at www.wsprings.com/recreation under Senior Services or stop by during business hours to explore. We are located at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Avenue, Western Springs, 2nd floor in the Neal Room (elevator access available). You may also register online-see below for different level options.

    GOLD level membership is $50/Residents, $60/Nonresidents and includes all activities including unlimited exercise and unlimited classes.

    SILVER level membership is $40/Residents, $50/Nonresidents and includes all activities except exercise and classes.

    BRONZE level membership is $20/Residents, $30/Nonresidents and includes library book borrowing, movie borrowing, movie watching, and regular bridge subs.

    Spouses are ½ price for each level.

    This fun class is designed to take your skills to a new level through a variety of drills. Practicing these techniques can only add to your playing skills. Each week sets a new challenge and will help your skills in dinking, 3rd shot drop, lobs, forehand and backhand and serving. At the end of the clinic there is a special challenge day that players will compete for the Challenge Championship. Equipment provided or bring your own.

    Let us help you become toned and strong as we focus on toning and firming all of your muscles. Participants will learn the correct way to warm-up, stretch, and condition the major muscle groups.     450429 - YOGA

    CHAIR YOGA
    Practice yoga using your breath and body postures to improve balance, posture, strength, range of motion and mindfulness. All options will be presented for each individual’s level of comfort and stability. We will use chairs and the wall in this class. Classes run continuously with very few breaks so join at any time. Students need to bring their own yoga mat.

    YOGA LEVEL 1-2
    Beginners and experienced yoga practitioners will enjoy classic yoga practices that cultivate strength, flexibility, balance, agility and reduce stress. This class combines slow-flow vinyasa and static holding with alignment. Foster mindfulness and equanimity with breathing techniques. Classes run continuously with very few breaks so join at any time. Students need to bring their own yoga mat.

    Online registration not available with yoga. See instructor or register at the Recreation Department.

    Summer is here and the time is right! Stay in shape and keep healthy all summer. We’re still working out in June, July and August, and welcoming new members. Classes are co-ed and open to all age groups. Keep shaping and toning and heart rate going. For arms, waist, abdomen, legs, etc. Comfortable clothes and good shoes recommended.

    We also have class on Saturdays at 7:45 am. Cost is $5.00 per class only.

    PICKLEBALL CLINIC-OUTDOORS
    Looking to learn or advance your pickleball skills? It’s easy for beginners to learn this fast-paced, competitive game. It is played with a paddle and a plastic ball in the style of tennis with some ping pong and badminton mixed in. Great exercise and fun! Basic skills to include: Posture, Ready Position, Grip/Paddle angle, Comfort zone, Dinks, Footwork for dinks, Push it Forward, Keep it Low, Scoring, 2 bounce rule, Forehand and backhand shots, 3rd shot drop, Lobs, Overheads, Court Positioning, Serve and Return of Serve. This clinic is designed for adults over 30. The instructor is a retired PE teacher of 34 years and has 17 years of experience teaching pickleball. Equipment provided or bring your own.

    PICKLEBALL CLINIC-ADVANCED
    Looking to learn or advance your pickleball skills? It’s easy for beginners to learn this quick, fast-paced, competitive game. Pickleball is played with a paddle and a plastic ball in the style of tennis with some ping pong and badminton mixed in. Great exercise and a fun game. The instructor is a retired Physical Education teacher of 34 years and has 17 years of experience teaching pickleball. Equipment provided or bring your own.

    PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT
    Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Halloween Pickleball Tournament. Wear your costume and come to the Rec Center for some spooky pickleball fun! There will be three divisions: Beginner 3.0, Intermediate 3.5 and Advanced 4.0. Registration deadline is Friday, October 25, 4:30 pm. No refunds after deadline.

    Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 6:00-8:00 pm

    Saturdays: 1:30-3:30 pm
    Sundays: 3:00-5:00 pm

    Advanced Players:
    Monday thru Sunday 9 - 11am
